Description
Hands down, one of Bruce’s coolest guitars ever: The Blue Ironbird. A flashy, flamboyant period for the band, the KISS 1985-86 Asylum tour proved to be their most colorful ever including a 40-foot, multi-colored illuminated Kiss logo, yellow lightning bolt staircases, and over-the-top glittery outfits.
The guitars for the Asylum tour were awesome, and none were quite like Bruce’s Blue Ironbird. The guitar started off with a slightly oversized body, originally painted red.
Not quite happy with the solid color result, Bruce asked for it to be painted from a drawing he created, another design he felt was modern, but classic. He requested the body be trimmed down from the original oversized shape, and chose colors of blue, and a black striped coordinating design. Hence, the Blue Ironbird took flight!
The guitar departed Bruce’s collection sometime in 1988 after the neck badly warped. He offered it to a KISS road crew member who then sold the guitar. Now that’s just cruel. “Secretly Cruel”. Rumor has it that the guitar currently resides with a fan somewhere on the East Coast.
