Description

On May 4, 1990, KISS embarked on their Hot In The Shade Tour. The amazing HITS stage show featured a 40-foot talking sphinx named “Leon” who’s mouth opened to reveal the band members silhouetted by green laser lights. Bruce relied on several ESP guitars for the tour. One of them was his trusted Cherry Sunburst Horizon, also featured in the “Rise To It” music video.

Another was an ESP Les Paul-like model in a unique purple finish. The guitar was a custom shop order from a store in NYC owned by ESP, called 48th Street Custom. The headstock featured a logo saying “48th St”. This guitar is featured in the HITS tour book and appears in the 1991 music video for “God Gave Rock & Roll To You II”.

The Cherry Sunburst Horizon is still part of Bruce’s personal collection and he uses it on occasion. The purple guitar was let go of as it would sometimes “squeal” as a result of the sheer, massive volume of KISS on stage! The Hot In The Shade Tour remains a highlight among their career and Bruce’s fourth major tour with the band. Celebrate this era with the HITS Tour Guitar Tee, available now!
