Continuing with my “KISS Guitar of the Month” here’s a MTV “KISS Unplugged” related Ovation Elite Model, 1868, like the one of two performed by me on the iconic TV show in 1995. A Black finish, with a Rosewood fingerboard, these are fun to play. Many artists love that they have an electric guitar type of feel, so it’s easier for leads. Kisstory was made on one of these models. MTV would not let us use the guitars you all saw, for the KISS Convention Tour, (Gibson Chet Atkins models) since they are not hollow like an acoustic guitar! So Paul played Ibanez acoustics, Ace played an Epiphone, and I was directed to Ovation, happily. I remember Richie Sambora and Nancy Wilson loving these instruments back in the 80’s and 90’s.
